Chrysalis (1996)
Flute and tape
Swathed in a wash of amniotic audio, the lone flute inhabits and defines the imaginary space.
Chrysalis represents the birth and growth of musical and sonic ideas, their emergence and submergence, their expression and oppression. It also represents a multi-perspectival articulation of the sonic aspects of the flute — that particular combination of metallic tube resonances and that human impetus, breath, heard from both afar and in high magnification.
