IPF FINDER

Javascript

IPF Finder is a little Javascript program which calculates useful information on a set of pitch-classes, including tone-clock names, 12-note steering groups, etc. Draws heavily on "Chromatic Maps" by Jenny McLeod, as well as the writings of Peter Schat and Allan Forte.

HARMONIC SERIES CALCULATOR

Javascript

The Harmonic Series Calculator is a little Javascript program which calculates the frequencies and microtonal tunings of harmonic series. Also includes a function to produce inharmonic stretches.

HARMONIC SERIES CALCULATOR (LIST VERSION)

Javascript

The Harmonic Series Calculator (List version) is the same as above except it returns a tab-delimited list of note names up to a user-specified number of partials.

FREQUENCY TO NOTE CONVERTER

Javascript

The Frequency to note converter takes a frequency in Hz and converts it to an equal-tempered note name, octave and indicates if it is microtonally detuned. If you are going to be doing a lot of conversions, it may save time to use the Frequency List to Note converter (see below)

Visit the Frequency to note converter page

FREQUENCY LIST TO NOTE CONVERTER

Javascript

The Frequency list to note converter is very similar to the Frequency to Note Converter, except that it accepts a return-delimited list of frequencies, and spits out a tab-delimited list of note-names and octaves, ready to be pasted into Excel.

L-SYSTEM GENERATOR

Javascript

The L-System Generator is based on an algorithm known as the "Lindenmeyer System" (more information can be found here). Essentially it is a simple idea of text substitution to imitate natural processes of growth and decay. These systems have been used compositionally by a number of composers, most notably Hanspeter Kyburz.
